Focus on ... OKUN

Un coup de coeur à partager avec vous : OKUN.

J'ai découvert Okun grâce à Zohaer de LaurenceAirline, qui a eu la gentillesse de me présenter le designer de cette marque, Bola Marques!!

Okun c'est avant tout une marque de swimwear, qui a la particularité d'utiliser les imprimés et notamment les motifs d'inspiration africaine.  Pour sa collection SS 13, on retrouve les motifs typiques des habits traditionnels congolais (Kuba) et les motifs adinkra des Ghanéens.

D'ailleurs le mot Okun est un mot Yoruba signifiant "Océan". Rien n'a été choisi au hasard comme vous pouvez le voir, tout a une cohérence, à en juger d'ailleurs par le lookbook qui est juste magnifique!!(ITW à paraître bientôt de Bola Marques).

Mais ne vous y trompez pas, il s'agit bien de la matière pour maillot de bain qui est utilisé et non d'un tissu wax en coton ou autre!! Ce qui est un atout non négligeable, lorsque l'on sait que la plupart du temps les designers s'essayant aux swimmwear avec des motifs africains utilisent du coton et qu'en plus, une fois de plus, l'offre pour les hommes n'est pas très étendue! OKUN a une excellente carte à jouer sur ce marché!

I discovered Okun thanks to Zohaer from LaurenceAirline, who had the kindness to present me to the designer of this brand, Bola Marques!!

Okun is above all a swimwear brand, that has the particularity to use printed matters in particular motives for African inspiration. For the SS 13 collection SS, we find the typical motives for the Congolese traditional clothes (Kuba) and the Adinkra motives for the Ghanaians.

Moreover the word Okun is a word Yoruba meaning "Ocean". Nothing was chosen at random as you can see it, everything has a coherence, to judge it moreover by the lookbook which is is just beautiful!! (ITW of Bola Marques soon on the blog)

But don't make a mistake, it is indeed about the material for swimsuit which is used here and not wax fabric with cotton or other!!  This is not an insignificant asset, when we know that most of the time designers venturing on swimmwear with African motives use some cotton and that moreover, one more time, the offer for men is not very vast! OKUN has an excellent playing card on this market!
